The Boogie-Down is a nod to the borough that gave birth to hip-hop, the Boogie-Down Bronx. The story goes that in 1973 Kool Herc was DJ'ing his sister's birthday party when he looped breakbeats to create one continuous beat. This technique, known as "breakbeat DJ'ing," laid the foundation for the development of hip hop music as we know it!
